High School Brawl Leads To Death

On April 21st Amy Inita Joyner-Francis a 16 year old  student at a Howard High School in Wilmington, Delaware was fatally assaulted in the women’s restroom.

“It’s just like, wow,” Another Howard High student, Carinna Vegs said. “She’s gone and she’s never going to come back.”

Three female students brutally beat her, knocking her head into the sink causing her death. Investigators uncovered that the brawl started as an argument over a boy and escalated from there.According to school officials the three girls have been removed from the school since the attack. No charges have been field, but the police has let the public know that the case will take time. Many classmates and teachers are in shock about the situation.

“I teach in the school system and there’s no discipline, “ said substitute teacher Marsha McDuffy. “That’s crazy, that’s not normal to do that to someone.”

The Saturday after the deadly brawl the community gathered at St. Paul UAME Church in Wilmington to celebrate the deceased teen’s life. Over a hundred family members and friends came to show their support. The questions that arise is are students really learning in a safe environment and does security in schools need to be stricter?
