After a year-long break from football after deciding that the Steelers weren’t paying him enough, Le’Veon Bell decided to come back to the NFL with the New York Jets. While he was gone, he was missing out on being paid about $14 million, which is what he would have made during the past 2018 season. Bell decided to sign with the Jets on Wednesday, March 13th, 2019, and announced it with a tweet, saying, “I’m back in the green baby, let’s get it,” referring to his football-playing days at Michigan State.

Bell made sure that he would be proving his worth with whatever team he signed with. After filtering through many other team offers, he decided that the Jets would be a great spot for him. They offered Bell $52.5 million a year for four years, and guaranteed the player $35 million right off the bat. This was a big change from the Steelers deal, which entailed a $70 million deal for five years, but only a $17 million guarantee. After playing in 2017 and being paid $12.2 million, Bell decided to take a break to protect his body and ready for a new team – which now happens to be the Jets.

After signing his contract, he decided to throw an album release party in Miami to celebrate. Not only is Bell making money through football – he found an outlet to make music as well. He released his first album “My Side of Things” in August of 2018, but his music didn’t make the buzz until he threw the party for his recent album, “Life’s a Gamble.” In his album, he includes a song called “Free At Last,” where he references how the Steelers paid him and how he thought he was getting paid unfairly.

Bell seems to be happy and ready for his upcoming 2019 season with the Jets. The Jets are also happy to have Bell on the team as a running back. Although there are no hard feelings against him from the team many of the Steelers fans are annoyed by the facts that he was looking for contract with the most money offered to him. In reality, it is totally valid for any football player to look for the team offering the most money since their NFL careers are so short because of injuries or loss of skills as they age. Regardless, everyone who watches the NFL wishes him the best, and everyone’s eyes are on him to see how he adapts to his new team in the 2019 season.
