Women’s Lacrosse Pre-Season

The official lacrosse season may be in the spring, but that doesn’t mean that the training can’t start yet! The women’s lacrosse team has been training since this past summer. During the summer, many of the players kept up with their skills by playing in travel teams and attending many tournaments. Fall training has begun once again, to get the girls ready for the spring. Training includes weight room sessions on Monday and Thursday, from 6:30-8 PM. In addition, on select Saturdays they host training sessions that focus more on cardio and stick training skills.
During the fall the girls started their team bonding by playing in the fall league and having games every weekend. During the winter season the girls will participating in the St. James winter league for lacrosse at the St. James sports complex that recently opened in Springfield. The women’s lacrosse program is serious about getting their girls in shape for the actual spring season so they can be the fiercest competition out on the field.
Training is important for these girls because not only are all of them are enthusiastic for pre-season training, but also because lacrosse is demanding sport and requires one to be in healthy shape. Lacrosse is also a running heavy sport so on Saturday training includes running workouts.
