Freshman Erin Dlott will be attending a six week dance program in Austin, Texas. The program will take place from June 15-July 29.
Dlott is mainly a ballet dancer but she also takes jazz, contemporary, and modern. Dlott has been dancing ever since she was five when her mother put her in dance lessons.
“I’m looking forward to improving my dancing,” said Dlott. “I’m also looking forward to meeting new people from all around the country.”
As Dlott attended the program in the summer of 2011, she is not nervous for the program.
Someone recommended the program to Dlott as it will improve her technique. Dlott will also be able to reunite with her family in Texas.
“In the program, we dance eight hours a day normally and on weekends we can go around the city,” said Dlott. “I’m going by myself, but I have family in Texas.”
The program is very independent and the dancers stay in a college dorm. The program consists of both males and females.
“The first couple of days can be a little awkward because you don’t know anyone,” said Dlott. “But after those few days, it is so much fun.”
Dlott hopes to keep dancing as long as she can as dance helps her express herself.
