South Lakes varsity football head coach Marvin Wooten is going into his third year in the helm.

 Coming off of a big loss to Westfield do you change anything preparing for Herndon?

As a team we need to realize that Westfield is a great team. We put up a good effort and we need to continue to build off of that. We learned a lot from that game.

 Your team last year had three wins and seven loses. Do you see improvement in your squad this year?

Oh absolutely, we are a better team than what we were last year.

 How do you like the new turf fields?

It is great I like them, also it is a lot more convenient. We now have a regulation practice field and we don’t need to guess the yardage or width of the field.

 What do you feel your teams strengths are?

I think our defense is very solid, even against Westfield we played good at times. If you look at the 45 points that’s one thing but if you look at our special teams and turnovers it really put our defense in a bomb. Our defense is definitely our strong suit.

How about the weaknesses?

Just trying to execute, we are doing some new things so the kids are having a hard time executing but like I said we are seeing improvement and working on getting better.
