Social studies teacher Meghan Cycyk comes to South Lakes after completing her first year of teaching at West Potomac High School. Cycyk is familiar to South Lakes, however, as she has completed her student teaching here.
She absolutely loves South Lakes.
Cycyk enjoys teaching all grades, but prefers teaching freshman. She enjoys seeing how the freshman students evolve over the course of a year.
Cycyk received a BA in Government & International Relations from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts and a M.Ed. from George Mason University.
Cycyk enjoys viewing the baseball games of her favorite baseball team, the Philadelphia Phillies. She also enjoys participating in other sports such as swimming. Cycyk truly enjoys music and watching live shows.
“I’ve saved every ticket stub from every concert I’ve been to, more than 100 and counting,” said Cycyk. “While in college, I spent a semester at Stirling University in Scotland. I also traveled in Australia for 2 weeks by myself.”
Cycyk expects much from her students, but doesn’t consider herself a strict teacher. She enjoys her students, job, and her social studies.
