Counselor Jeremy Moffitt began his first year at South Lakes as a counselor for students with the last names beginning with A-Burk.
Moffitt was born and grew up in Fairfax, Virginia. Moffitt began studying psychology in high school and really enjoyed it. He continued his studies during college and eventually got his Master’s degree.
Moffitt didn’t only take psychology classes in high school though. He also liked playing sports, especially ice hockey. While playing, Moffitt said he dislocated his jaw and chipped his knees.
Playing ice hockey at Stone Bridge, Moffitt was part of a team that won championships four years straight.
“I am a huge ice hockey fan- go Caps,” said Moffitt. “I played defense, poorly, on my club team but was immediately sold on the sport. I really hope to see ice hockey get bigger in schools as well as more emphasis on field hockey, which is an incredible sport.”
Even though Moffitt greatly enjoys hockey, he loves to be a counselor.
“I fell in love with psychology after taking it in high school and went on to major in it in college in hopes of becoming a counselor,” said Moffitt. “I really enjoyed working with students, having worked with the YMCA and as a substitute teacher in Loudoun for years. I found school counseling to be the perfect fit for me, and a Master’s degree later I’m lucky enough to be working at South Lakes.”
