English teacher Donna Sweeney joins the Seahawk family after moving from Nevada.
Sweeney has been happily married to her high school sweetheart for 30 years. During this time, she has lived in 27 different addresses and has taught English for 17 years.
One of the many places Sweeney has taught was Japan.
“The parents and teachers there take you out to eat all the time,” said Sweeney. “I ate many foods I didn’t like. I just had to smile and swallow them. Sea cucumber and sea urchin are not my favorite foods.”
Sweeney loves teaching and loves South Lakes.
“When I walked through the doors for my interview, I felt comfortable and welcomed,” said Sweeney.
Sweeney has no children but has a 4-year-old beagle named Bandit.
“My students are my kids,” said Sweeney.
