The 2025 VMA awards lauded several prominent artists including Lady Gaga, KATSEYE, Sabrina Carpenter, and Ariana Grande.
Lady Gaga, fourteen-time Grammy award winner took home the first VMA of the night for Artist of the Year. Beyond grateful, she dedicated her speech to her fiance, Micheal Polansky, and her fans, A.K.A her Little Monsters.
Next up, girlband KATSEYE, well known for songs “Gabriella” and “Gnarly,” won their first VMA MTV Push Performance award for their song, “Touch.”
The girls melted hearts with humility as Lara Raj gave the acceptance speech on behalf of the band, “Thank you so much, this is all very new to us. This is our first time ever doing this, so this is crazy. We’ve been through a lot together, so having this moment feels so rewarding, and feels like everything’s paid off, and fuels us to keep going, so thank you,” Raj exclaimed.
Sabrina Carpenter won three awards for Best Pop Artist, Best Album, and Visual Effects this year for her album “Short n’ Sweet,” which previously faced criticism for its promiscuous content. Carpenter gave what some fans believe was one of the best VMA performances in a long time. Carpenter advocated for many on stage with her dancers waving signs of protest for human rights. Using her platform for good, her speech consisted of thanking her fans and dancers.
“So thanks, everyone here. But most importantly, my fans are just, you’ve been there for me. So thank you. And the last thing I’ll say is every artist here tonight that is nominated, that’s performing, that is just standing here looking amazing, you all mean so much to me and have inspired me so much,” she said.
Ariana Grande, pop sensation and Wicked star, won the last awards of the night. Grande won three awards for her song “Brighter Days Ahead,” including, Video of the Year, Best Pop, and Best Longform Video. Many fans believe Grande has been used for clout and relevance so audiences were shocked by the wins. She was shocked by the achievement, and thanked her team and fans.
“Thank you so much for bringing these songs and this vision to life and articulating them visually in a way that was fanciful and yet specific and vulnerable and yet protective, all at once,” she stated. “I just want to say these videos that mean so much and define us as artists forever, take a village.”
The VMA’s classic red carpet and iconic performances did not disappoint. The awards captured the attention of almost 19,000 attendees and over 5.5 million viewers, and for
good reason.
Overall, fans showed great enthusiasm. It was no surprise to the fans who were in total agreement with the awards and their winners. Watchers all over the world seem to agree on the success of this year’s VMA’s.
