The 2025 Emmys reunited Gilmore Girls stars Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham, to kick off the fall season. The stars reconnected for the first time since 2016, announcing the award of Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.
Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, otherwise known as Lorelai and Rory, are infamous for the show Gilmore Girls, and Gilmore Girls a Year in the Life, in 2016. The girls brought back a hint of Stars Hollow by standing on their front porch, after leaving their last episode on a cliffhanger.
Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham stood on a replica of their front porch from Gilmore Girls while giving a heartfelt speech and announcing the award. Fans all around the world felt a wave of nostalgia listening to the women speak like their characters once more.
“Twenty-five years ago,” Lauren started, “a show called Gilmore Girls premiered and apparently took the season of fall hostage.” Alexis continued, “in spite of our autumnal dominance, Gilmore Girls was actually a very small show.” Then Lauren joked, “Meaning we have no money.” “If there was a birthday at The Drew Carey Show next door, they would send us their leftover sheet cake,” She said. “We walked in circles in Burbank, saying, “Hey, look how Connecticut it is here today,” Graham quipped.
Bledel and Graham harnessed their inner Lorelai and Rory with their speech being filled with jokes, wit, and heartfelt messages. Gilmore Girls fans agree that the event was most successful, with a hint of coffee and excitement in the air.
