The 2018-19 EMILY AND FRED RUFFING ACCA SCHOLARSHIP

Presented by the Annandale Christian Community for Action (ACCA), will be awarded to one graduating high school senior of Fairfax County Public Schools who has a disability. This is due to the Career Center by Monday, April 22 by 3pm. This is the first day we are back after SPRING BREAK!

Student Eligibility Criteria:

• Graduating high school senior with a disability, pursuing a full-time higher education program beyond high school

• Financial Need

• Academic accomplishment and ability

• The impact the disability has had on the individual, and the level to which he/she is coping/overcoming

Additional Considerations All qualifying FCPS students are encouraged to apply; however, priority will be given to students who attend Justice and Annandale High Schools.(they didn’t have enough last year)

Scholarship Award Amount $2,000.00 per semester up to $4,000 per academic year; Renewable up to 4 years and $16,000

Transcript – Official

Recommendations – Yes. At least one. Additional are optional. All recommendations may be from school counselor, special education department chair, or special education teacher.

SAT/ACT Test Scores – Official scores from high school.

Personal Essay Yes. (Part II, section 2 of 2 on application) The impact the disability has had on the individual, and the level to which he/she is coping/overcoming.

Financial Need Based Yes

Financial Documentation Yes. (Part II, section 1 of 2 on application). A statement of financial need must also be included with the application.

US Legal Residency Documentation No

HS Staff Signature Yes. Located on memorandum page (page 2 of 5 on application).

Parent/Guardian Signature Yes. Memorandum and Part III of application.
