You can ace every test in your classes, but if you forget your gym shoes once, your GPA drops. PE class shouldn’t affect GPA because it doesn’t measure academic ability. Classes like math, science, and English, test students on skills like problem solving and independent thinking. But PE focuses on physical activity instead. While staying active and healthy is very important, a student’s athletic ability should not determine their academic ranking. PE can teach teamwork, discipline, and fitness without impacting a student’s GPA. PE grades can also be unfair because they are often subjective. Some teachers focus on participation, others on athletic performance, and sometimes even small mistakes can lower a student’s grade. This means that two students who try equally hard might get very different grades. PE should focus on effort, improvement, and teamwork so that students who are committed to staying active aren’t penalized in their GPA. Staying active is important for both physical and mental health, and gym class is very helpful for students’ health. However, grades shouldn’t impact GPA because students have different strengths and abilities. Effort and commitment should be recognized, allowing all students to benefit from fitness without being penalized academically. Ultimately, gym class plays an important role in promoting health and teamwork, but it shouldn’t affect GPA. Academic performance should reflect skills like critical thinking, problem solving, and dedication in the classroom. Recognizing effort in PE without tying it to GPA, allows students to stay active and healthy while keeping GPA meaningful.
