Recently a trailer for the new Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie was released, revealing the movie’s release date, which is set for December 5, 2025. It has been nearly two years since the first Five Nights at Freddy’s movie was released on October 27, 2023, but the movie had mixed success. Since the critics were not fans, the future of the franchise was uncertain.
However, there is no longer a question since the movie is being put into action. Instead of following the storyline of the FNAF video games, the directors are taking a different step. Rather than having the animatronics haunt the player in a pizzeria, it seems the animatronics have escaped the pizzeria and are roaming out in public, terrorizing whoever they encounter. This is pretty cool since they are trying to do something different instead of making an exact copy of the game into a movie.
Additionally, the studio behind this movie, BlumHouse Productions, have been producing famous horror movies such as Get Out in 2017, the M3gan series, and The Purge series. As this studio has experience with horror, I believe this will be a good movie for scares.
The franchise the movie is based on is loved by many people. The main reason for this is its complex story. This franchise expands over not only games, but in books as well. For example, in the previous FNAF movie they referenced “Sparky,” which was a character from the books. The parallels draw in die hard FNAF fans by dropping easter eggs here and there. There was also a reference to the second Five Nights at Freddy’s game with the Freddy mask used to protect oneself was shown in the trailer. With that, each and every game is also packed with a story to unfold through the movie.
Overall, I think people should take a chance on this new Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. If you love the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, this will be a great movie with great production overall. If you’re not a fan of the games, I still recommend it because the story is very well written so anyone can enjoy it.
We asked Jacob Aguilera of the South Lakes Sentinel to see if he wanted to watch the movie and why?
“I am going to watch the movie because I was a really big fan of the games and I used to play it with my brothers and so when I learned about it getting a movie I was really excited.” With that I recommend watching this upcoming movie when it hits the theaters December 5,2025.
