The upcoming film “Superman” based on the DC comics, is going to be released this summer on July 11. The director of the film is James Gunn, who has worked on other well known films like “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “The Sucide Squad”. This movie will star David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luther, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Many were surprised Warner Bros is making another Superman film because they have already released six, the first one being from 1978.
This movie will follow the character Clark Kent’s struggle to reconcile his alien Krypotian heritage with his human life as a reporter. He must navigate the challenges of being a superhero in the human world. The new trailer highlights his struggle to form relationships with others, like Lois Lane, and the relationship he has with the antagonist, Lex Luthor. The new trailer also showed Krypto, a dog that shares Superman’s powers. Krypto is supposed to bring a different tone to the story as Superman’s best friend.
The purpose for creating this film is to reboot the DC cinematic universe. It aims to move away from the previous DC films and establish a new narrative direction for DC movie properties. The DC franchise also wants to have a much brighter tone compared to the other films that were darker. The actor Henry Cavill, who played the most recent Superman, was mature and created a serious tone in the Superman story. The new actor is supposed to embody a new Superman that is light hearted and lively. Lastly, there is an intent to focus on a new, younger Clark Kent to explore his journey as he grapples with two different lifestyles. The new Superman film is not just another movie, it’s a strategic move to enter a new era for the DC franchise.
