A new indoor golf experience is opening sometime in the near future at Reston Station. This means year-round access to the opportunity no matter what Virginia weather throws your way.
The Back Nine Golf, a rapidly growing franchise from Utah, has signed a lease for 4,500 square feet at 1860 Reston Row Plaza. This was announced by the developer, Comstock Companies, on May 19, 2026. The venue will be located on the ground floor of the new BLVD Haley apartment building, right next to the upcoming Ebbitt House restaurant.
Unlike traditional outdoor courses and Topgolf, The Back Nine Golf uses high-tech simulators. The Reston location will feature Full Swing Pro 2.0 Simulators, the same technology that is endorsed by Tiger Woods, a professional golf player, and is used in the professional TGL indoor golf league.
According to the company’s announcement, players can experience famous courses like St. Andrews in Scotland or Pebble Beach in California without ever leaving Fairfax County. The simulators also offer mini-golf and putting games designed for beginners and casual players.
The venue aims to be a community hub, not just a practice range. Their plans include private events and birthday parties, kid camps for younger golfers, and tournaments where players are able to compete for prizes.
While members get 24/7 access, unlimited tee times, and discounts on merchandise, a membership is not required to book simulator time. The location already has waitlists for memberships and free demo sessions, highlighting a strong local interest.
The Back Nine Golf is expanding quickly, with more than 300 locations opened or in the works across the U.S. and Canada. The Reston location will join five other Virginia locations, including one that just opened in Leesburg on May 7. Additional sites in Richmond and Norfolk are also underway.
Tim Steffan, Chief Operating Officer of Comstock Companies, said the developer is “excited” to add this “experimental concept” to Reston Station, which is becoming a major mixed-use destination in the region.
Interestingly, this is not the first attempt to bring indoor golf to Reston. Puttshack, a company with a mini-golf concept, was previously planned to open in the same area. However, that space was taken over by a larger company that was looking to relocate their headquarters.
The Back Nine joins a growing list of retail options at Reston Row including Tous les Jours, a growing Asian-French bakery and cafe, Vida Fitness, and Noku Sushi.
Comstock’s announcement did not provide a specific opening date for The Back Nine Golf. However, with the confirmation of signed leases and waitlists already forming, Reston residents can keep an eye on Reston Row for a fun and easily accessed way to enjoy golf.
