Strike a pose! After twenty years the comedy drama, The Devil Wears Prada starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, came out with a sequel on May 1, 2026. The movie is now in theaters.
The 2006 film follows Andy Sachs, a journalist, as she lands a job as an assistant for her ruthless boss Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) in the fashion industry. After coming out this movie received a huge amount of cultural fame for its iconic fashion and featured cameos from stars like Heidi Klum. This film was celebrated for Meryl Streep’s iconic performance as Miranda Priestly. The movie has received many awards, some of them include the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress (2007), AFI Movies of the Year (2006), London Film Critics’ Circle Award for Actress of the Year (2006), and BMI Film Music Award (2007). Overall, the movie’s actors, sharp fashion insights, and performance contributed to its success.
Hathaway and Streep were hesitant to make a sequel as the first movie was published 20 years ago but agreed and they began filming in July 2024. The four lead actors in the second movie are Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. Lady Gaga also made an appearance in the movie playing herself. It follows a now successful and established Andy Sachs who was forced to return to the cutthroat world of fashion. The movie has received a positive audience acceptance on Rotten Tomatoes giving it a 79%. Many viewers described it as “comfortable”, “nostalgic”, and “visually pleasing” and fans were pleased to see the return of the original cast.
