Fairfax Academy adds new course

The Fairfax Academy for Communications and the Arts program will receive a new addition going forward into the next year: Social Media Marketing and Design.
This new course, hosted at Fairfax High School, “will merge multimedia formats into digital media marketing, and includes social, business, and education applications for a global society,” according to a press release.
The course will teach content creation, search engine analytics, and application development.
“The course is designed specifically for marketing,” said Fairfax Academy president Diego Wilson. “What it does is bring together the use of social media and merges social media into digital media marketing. We look at the way it is applied to business education and for social use also, but the most important thing is that it is trying to reach out in market products or market services and helps people keep track of how their campaigns are doing.”
The Fairfax Academy Program is focused on specialized arts and sciences courses, and is constantly evolving its offerings to match new needs. The Social Media Marketing and Design course is an example of this.
“It’s a brand new field,” said Wilson. “It’s now being offered as a major in colleges, jobs are being created, and firms are having positions utilizing social media marketing because that is a way you can reach the buyer or the people who use their services.”
