Yorktown shopping center evacuated after bomb threat at Starbucks

While ordering at Starbucks, most people would expect a cup of coffee, not a bomb threat. On Saturday, November 3rd, the Yorktown Shopping Center in Falls Church was evacuated after an intoxicated man stated that he had a bomb in his backpack. In fear of the bomb exploding, employees called the police and evacuated the coffeehouse while the man locked himself in the bathroom.

The man was identified as 28-year old-David Velasquez, the man that made the threat after he drunkenly passed out and was asked to leave. Velasquez remained in the bathroom for over an hour while crisis negotiation personnel talked with him and eventually got him out. He was later taken to a hospital due to his high intoxication level and then sent to jail. The EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) squad searched his backpack and confirmed that he was not a threat.
