10 Things You Shouldn’t Do On Snapchat

Like other social media platforms, such as Instagram and Facebook, Snapchat is a great way to connect with friends and family through pictures that can last for a few seconds. Snapchat can be used for different reasons, but not all of them are good. This list consists of things I have noticed on my Snapchat and what I have heard from others.

1. Your School Work

We all attended school on a regular basis (hopefully), and the last thing people want to see in their Snapchat feed is your math homework.

2. Lip Syncing
I don’t do this, and I don’t think I ever will. If you lip sync on Snapchat, you probably suck at singing in real life, but that’s besides the point. If you decide to do lip-synch anyways, there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. If you are purposefully making your video cringey, then it’s funny. But if you are trying to act cute, then it shows that you are trying too hard.

3. Personal Problems
You’ve probably seen this on your Snapchat story feed many times before. Let me set the scene for you. You are scrolling through the Snapchat stories when suddenly, you stumble upon a Snap with a completely black background and small text reading, “people are fake” or “some people suck, and they know who they are,” etc. Although I love drama, here is some news for you: NO ONE CARES! Seriously, I could care less about your personal problems and I’m sure other people can agree.

4. Explicit Photos with Unrelated Captions
If my eyes could roll around any further when I see one of these Snaps, they would. How thirsty are people these days? If you have a caption, the picture should be related to it. These kinds of posts are just desperate cries for attention.

5. Vaping
I really have no words to explain how dumb this is. Who in their right mind would think that their friends want to see them vaping and fogging up the screen? It confuses me.

6. Videos of the show you are currently watching
There are two reasons as to why you shouldn’t post these kind of Snaps. The first reason is that NO ONE CARES! If I wanted to watch the show, I would try to find it on Netflix or on TV. The second reason is that if someone else is watching the same show, you might be spoiling it for them if you are watching an episode they haven’t.

7. Inspirational Quotes
Honestly, I believe that inspirational quotes are not that bad, but if you post an excessive amount, it becomes a problem. If someone truly wanted inspiration, I’m sure they are not going to get any from a Snapchat post that was probably found on Google somewhere.

8. Sexual Requests

Why? Just why? This doesn’t make any sense to me. Are people that dumb to think that no one else is going to see what they are posting?

Side note:

I’m going to take a break from ranting and actually explain how Snapchat works. I feel the majority of people don’t understand what happens when you share a Snap with someone privately or post it on your story. News flash! Your Snaps don’t actually disappear once someone sees them. According to ABC News, Snapchat admits that there were ways users could save their friends’ photos – which are supposed to “disappear” in a few seconds – by downloading third-party apps or taking screenshots.

9. Blurry Photos/Videos
I’m going to keep this short and simple. If you are going to take a picture or video of something that you want people to see, make sure the photo or video is a least decent and not fuzzy. No one is going to understand what is going on if the photo or video is shaky or blurry.

10. Mundane daily activities
This is probably one of the most common Snaps I see on my feed. If all you are doing is eating, walking, or some other regular activity, there is no need to take a Snap or video recording of it if it isn’t interesting. You are just wasting everyone’s time, including your own.
