The South Lakes Seahawks have started the 2022-2023 football season 0-2 with losses at Robinson and Alexandria City.  South Lakes hasn’t got off to a hot start in either of the first two contests.  The Seahawks started off against the Robinson Rams down 21-0 with six minutes to go in the first quarter, including letting the opening kickoff go for a 91 yard touchdown and fumbling the ball on the 13 yard line.  After Robinson capitalized on these two blunders, the Seahawks went three and out and punted the ball for a net gain of 21 yards.  Despite the Seahawks digging themselves a 21 nothing hole, Isaac Copeland looked to get them back on track with a 68 yard rushing touchdown and a 3 yard rushing touchdown.  Following a Robinson touchdown, the Seahawks drove down the field and finished their drive with a four yard rushing touchdown, going into the half South Lakes was down 28-21.

Coming out of the half time, the Seahawks struggled, not managing to score on their first three drives.  While struggling offensively, the Seahawks defense was shutting down the Rams offense, allowing them to score only once after being on the field for ten plus minutes.  While being down 35-21, South Lakes looked to mount a comeback but ended up falling short despite an excellent throw and catch from Max Daum and James Zschunke for a late touchdown.

The next game up on the Seahawks schedule, Alexandria City, ended in dramatic fashion, with the Seahawks losing 15-13.  South Lakes got off to a great start with multiple long runs by RB Isaac Copeland. The Seahawks went for the first down on 4th &4 and were unsuccessful.  After multiple goal line stops by the Seahawks defense on fourth down, and holding the Titans to two field goals, South Lakes went into half down 6-0.

Failing to score in the first half, the Seahawks continued their cold streak going scoreless in the third quarter.  Thanks to the South Lakes defense, the score remained 6-0 heading into the fourth.

After a miserable scoring drought, the Seahawks finally managed to get on the board by putting together a ten play drive capped off by a five yard touchdown run by running back Cody Weitzman.  After stellar defense in the first three quarters the Seahawks defense finally cracked, with the Titans putting up their first touchdown of the game giving them the lead 12-7.  After the Seahawks failed to convert a first down, the Titans drove down the field and made their third field goal of the game, extending their lead by three making the score 15-7.

With the Seahawks down eight, they looked to mount a scoring drive to tie the game.  Quarterback Max Daum completed multiple short passes that went for big gains to get South Lakes in scoring position.  On the Titans 11 yard line, Daum completed a pass to Lewis Prempeh for a Seahawks touchdown.  After the Titans attempt to run out the clock they are forced to punt to the Seahawks.  With one minute and three seconds left with no timeouts, South Lakes strung together two quick passes for a gain of ten yards and a first down.  After two incomplete passes the Seahawks gained nine yards on a pass to receiver J.P. Neaves. Despite this, South Lakes failed to convert on fourth and one. The game finished 15-13, giving the Seahawks a record of 0-2.

The Seahawks look to win their first game of the year against Herndon at home.  Herndon is 0-1 on the season after losing to Centreville 41-7 two weeks ago.
