The Los Angeles Clippers have revealed their updated logo and jerseys as a part of their new rebranding. The Clippers have also unveiled more information on their new high-tech stadium funded by their owner, Steve Ballmer. The Clippers organization hopes these changes will reinvent their public image and entice new fans to support the team as part of their new motto “Make Waves”.

The announcement of the rebranding may have seemed surprising, but many events made the franchise deem a rebrand to be necessary. The first of these events was when Steve Ballmer purchased the franchise in 2014 following the explosion in popularity the Clippers received during the “Lob City” era of the team. After repeated playoff failure, the Clippers traded away their trio of star players Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan in 2017. During this rebuilding phase, the Clippers had internal discussions on the future of the franchise and what may be necessary to expand their fanbase and keep existing fans happy. In 2019, the team announced their plan to move to the Intuit Dome in the 2024-2025 season. The Clippers also decided to keep the team near Los Angeles and keep their Clippers name.

During the 2019 offseason, the Clippers acquired superstar players Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The team’s popularity exploded and they have been championship contenders ever since. The team replaced their coach Doc Rivers with Tyronn Lue after an embarrassing loss in the 2020 playoffs. The Clippers acquired Russell Westbrook last season, who showed his value in the 2023 playoffs. After a defeat to the Phoenix Suns in last year’s playoffs, the team began searching for a new star to add to the roster. The team traded for former Most Valuable Player James Harden after his public controversy with his previous team, the Philadelphia 76er’s. James Harden has been a great fit for the team so far and has pushed them into potential championship favorites.

The Clippers announced the start of their rebrand on February 26th, 2024, along with the reveal of their new logo and jerseys. The jerseys were shown off by their three star players in each of the new jerseys. The Clippers also revealed their new logo and the court design that will appear at the Intuit Dome. The Intuit Dome is the biggest part of this rebrand and will revolutionize the way sports stadiums are operated forever. The arena is going to feature facial recognition software that allows the Clippers to give every audience member the optimal experience. It will allow customers to register an account with the arena and allow them to scan their face. This will be used to give you discounts or free items for recurring customers and allow you to buy things without having to checkout because the facial recognition software will recognize them and withdraw the funds from their account upon leaving the arena. The arena will feature a Clippers-fans-only area where Clippers merchandise are required to sit there. This area will be filmed and recorded and the audience members there will pick up how loud the cheers of each individual person are there. These audience members will be rewarded for their cheers with discounts, free merchandise, and other things to have fans keep coming back. These are just some of many amazing features that the Intuit Dome will have. The Intuit Dome is set to be available to attend some time during 2024.
