The “Help Support Our Troops” drive is looking for donations of basic toiletries for troops in Afghanistan. Boxes are located in the main office, activities office, and JROTC classroom.

The “Help Support Our Troops” drive, sponsored by South Lakes Athletics, asks community members to “help bring a little bit of home to our troops for the holidays.”

Director of Student Activities, Linda Jones, was asked to advertise the drive at the last home football game, Nov. 8.

“The board of supervisors called us and asked us to put out the boxes and flyers at our last home football game,” Jones said.

After the game, the boxes stayed at South Lakes.

“Two of the four boxes went into the main office, one was kept in the activities office, and one went into the JROTC classroom,” Jones said.

The drive accepts donations of basic toiletries such as socks, shaving cream, and toilet paper. The collected items will be sent to the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Ghazni, Afghanistan.

Items can also be dropped off at the North County Government Center, located at 12000 Bowman Towne Center, Reston.
