Local Athletes Participate in 2016 Olympic Games

With over a confirmed 8,000 athletes participating in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, this is sure to be a very . Many teams and individuals will compete for world supremacy in these events starting on August 5th and ending August 21st.

One country in particular that has thrived in the past few Olympic Games has been the United States of America. Not all USA members of the United States Olympic Team have been announced. According to teamusa.org, all the members will be announced by July 18th.

One member of the shooting team, 21 year old Lucas Kozeniesky, is from Fairfax, VA. Kozeniesky went to North Carolina  University and was part of the NCAA Championships in air rifle. Kozeniesky will be competing in the Men’s 10 meter Air Rifle event in Rio. He won the 2016 US Olympic Team Trials in Air Rifle.

Just a few hours away from Fairfax, Reid Priddy will be representing Richmond, VA on the US Olympic Team in Volleyball. Priddy went to Loyola Marymount University and led his team in kills, kills per game, and service aces in his senior year.

With many more athletes to be confirmed and welcomed onto the team, the US Olympic Team will take shape within the next month. How they will do is a mystery to everyone but we wish them the best of luck in their events and hope that they bring home the gold for our country.
