Podcaster Bobbi Althoff took the internet by storm in July, 2023 after an interview with rap superstar Drake. Her podcast, The Really Good Podcast, caught people’s eyes, using dry humor to keep viewers engaged. To interview such a famous celebrity is impressive, and Drake’s humongous fan base made it easy for her to become an overnight success. Clips of the show flooded people’s TikToks, becoming inescapable on Twitter and Instagram. While this newfound popularity was great for her career, Althoff was subject to hate from the masses on the internet.

Bobbi Althoff, the 26-year-old mother of two, started off on TikTok before even dreaming of a podcast. She gained popularity from her comedy, becoming known for hiding her kids’ identities via the fake names: Concrete and Richard. When she started The Really Good Podcast, Althoff gained more mainstream attention than she had on TikTok,first interviewing fellow comedian Funny Marco. Her other interviewees consist of Lil Yachty, Tyga, Mark Cuban, and many others. Over time, her overly dry and rude comedy has mellowed, and the interviews have become slightly more tasteful and involved. It seemed before her change in tone as though she was relying on edging the celebrities on and making them so uncomfortable that they had to make jokes.

“There’s no prep, and that’s the fun of it,” Althoff told Cosmopolitan, “[Celebrities] know it’s a character, and [they] just wing it.”

Although the lightning fast growth of her channel came mostly after her interview with Drake, the vast amount of attention from the episode also caused drama for her. Fans of Drake called her an “industry plant” and accused the two of being in a relationship. Eventually, behind closed doors, something went down to cause Althoff to remove the interview from her channel completely, as well as removing clips of it from the internet. Although it’s not clear what exactly caused this behavior, Althoff did take to Instagram stories to post the message that she did not have a romantic relationship with Drake, which could be a reason for the removal of the videos.

Ever since these dramatic events, talk about Althoff on the internet has been low, but her views stay high. She continues to interview high up celebrities, rising above the accusations of being an industry plant and continuing to impress viewers with her comedic talent.
