Niki’s Guide: stay motivated

Students often face difficulties getting motivated. However, the real challenge lies in staying motivated during wintertime.

Winter weather causes some to neglect their school work and curl up in a blanket and watch TV.

Luckily, methods exist to eliminate the drag of the December weather.

As New Years inches closer, use December to start defining hopes and goals for the 2014 school year. This allows students to keep their priorities on mind even throughout holiday festivities.

Getting exercise encourages the body to remain awake and focused. Try taking a walk or going to the gym before tackling homework assignments.

Students should fuel their bodies with proper nutrition to avoid sugar crashes and stay energized throughout the day.

Consume vitamin D with foods such as milk or fish to compensate for the lack of sunlight in winter.

Lastly, stay positive. The best way to remain motivated is to keep a positive outlook on goals and schoolwork.

December, the time of holidays and fun, can also be the time of productive work and good grades.
