Niki’s Guide: respect teachers

Confrontation with teachers and faculty proves difficult for many students. Despite which party was right or wrong, students must give teachers the respect necessary to solve conflict.

South Lakes has a liberal attitude that allows students to speak freely to their teachers. Students have the ability to stand up for themselves and most teachers will reciprocate with an open mind.

However, confrontation needs to be handled delicately by both parties for any type of compromise to be made.

Being respectful means to not target the other party, but to speak to them truthfully, nicely, and solve the problem without accusation.

Students should remember that teachers are people too, and teachers should remember the same of students.

Taking these steps allow students and teachers to have a genuine relationship and will often minimize punishment or conflict.
