While it is debated whether games are harder either home or away, the boys basketball team must prepare to defend home court against several strong opponents during the next three games.
On Friday Jan. 4 the Seahawks will begin their home stint against a 4-7 Fairfax squad who placed second in the Liberty District Tournament last year after falling to McLean in the finals. Fairfax returns two senior guards in Zack Burnett (15.5 ppg) and John Robic (13.9 ppg). This will be a tough game controlled mostly by guard play, look for Brandon Kamga (16.5 ppg) and Evan Keys (8.0 ppg) to be placed on Burnett and Robic to try and control the pace of the game.  Â
On the following Tuesday night the Seahawks will face off against an 8-2 Marshall team who have lost two of their last three games after starting the season seven and zero. Junior Marshall player Towner Hale (12.6 ppg) leads the team in scoring. The potential matchup of Hale and South Lakes’ six foot four forward Junior Ebott (6.3 ppg) in the post will be an interesting combination in which defense will be the main focus.
To close out the three game home swing the Seahawks will face off against a four and six Madison team who were swept by South Lakes last season. The Seahawks main focus will be on Patrick Murphy (17.5 ppg) and Phillip Davine (16.9 ppg), but look for their two sophomores, Kyle Karp (6.7 ppg) and Sekai Walker (5.3 ppg), to bring some additional scoring if left unguarded. South Lakes two sophomores Kamga and Darius Hawkins (3.8ppg) are expected to continue their hard work and consistency with Kamga starting and Hawkins coming off the bench.
