After playing three consecutive home games over the last week and a half the boys varsity basketball team will play two consecutive games on the road next week.
On Tuesday the boys will face off against nonconference opponent Westfield, a game that usually is the season opener but was postponed due to Westfield’s success in football. The Bulldogs are 6-7 outside of their district, but have no wins and two losses in the tough Concord District. They are led by senior guard C.J. Hill (14.1ppg) and senior forward Tre’Von Walton (13.7ppg).
Westfield’s effective inside out combo of Hill and Walton will be a tough matchup. This contest will most likely show a high scoring game where both teams will look to control the tempo of the game through their guards. Look for the Seahawks to place Nic Deatley (3.3ppg) on Hill after Deatley held Fairfax’ leading scorer Zac Burnett (15.3ppg) to seven points last week.
On Friday night the Seahawks will travel to play the reigning Liberty District tournament champion McLean. With six foot five center John Pascoe (15.5ppg) leading the team in scoring with contributions from Samer Abdelmoty (10.4ppg) and John Heberton (9.2ppg) McLean is currently six and six with three wins and two losses in the Liberty District.
This will be a very physical game in which post play will play as the determining factor. Junior Ebott (6.3ppg), Ben Bush (2.0ppg), and Clayton O’Neill (5.9ppg) will all probably get a chance to matchup with Pascoe for the Seahawks. Whoever controls the battle in the post will most likely win the game but who that is, is anyone’s guess.
