Counselor Madiha Jamil begins her first year at South Lakes.
Jamil was born in Pakistan and moved to California at age 9. She says that this one of the biggest events in her life. She later moved to Fairfax County for her high school years.
In Fairfax, Jamil played in the marching band as a percussionist.
Jamil always loved working with kids and helping people. Her mother was also a counselor when she was a child. Jamil worked in human services in Reston before she became a counselor.
Jamil believes South Lakes has a very good counseling program.
“I came here because I wanted to be in a school that’s diverse and that promotes cultural awareness,” said Jamil. “I think that goes with the IB program. So far, all the students I’ve met are great to work with.”
Jamil loves outdoor activities such as street hockey, hiking, and even skydiving.
“I used to play street hockey,” said Jamil. “That was in California. I love street hockey.”
Jamil has another passion.
“I love dance,” said Jamil.
