From the time he was a young child, auto tech teacher Anthony Gray was always interested in Civil War history.
“I was always interested in it,” said Gray. “A few years ago I got to be in the Gettysburg movie. Riding a horse around was fun.”
This is just one of several interesting facts about Gray.
Gray grew up in Oklahoma and went to College High School where he did fencing, target shooting, wrestling and band.
Gray didn’t start his automotive interest until he went to Montgomery College where he majored in automotive technology.
“I like machines of all types,” said Gray. “However, cars are the only things people fix instead of replace.”
Gray also majored in psychology and philosophy at Oklahoma State University followed by Wesley Theological Seminary for three years of graduate study.
Gray’s first teaching job was in Cairo, Egypt as a 10th grade English teacher at an international school.
Now he lives here in Reston with his cats.
“I like cats and have three of them.”
Gray says that he likes South Lakes so far, but that the biggest change is the block scheduling and especially the SS and R&R periods.
“It will be hard to get used to,” said Gray. “But I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it within a few weeks.”
