With the chilly winds of fall approaching us, the best thing to have by your side is the perfect fall drink to accompany the rainy days. The smell of the autumn air can stir up cravings for something sweet, spicy, and cozy in a cup. As the leaves turn orange, local cafes and restaurants roll out their seasonal menus, brewing pumpkin spice lattes and spiced ciders that warm you from the inside out, as well as sweet bites that taste like fall itself. Here’s where you can find the best fall drinks and treats, close to home.
- Tatte Bakery and Cafe
Recently, the well known Tatte Bakery and Cafe with locations established in Massachusetts, Virginia, DC, Maryland, and New Jersey, has opened its doors to us in the Reston Town Center! It’s located on the same corner as Ben and Jerry’s next to the water fountain. The menu features a variety of delectable, artisanal foods, but here are all the fall favorites you can get from the cafe.
Tahini Pumpkin Oatmilk Iced Latte (available in hot) – House-made spiced pumpkin and tahini syrup topped with espresso and steamed oatmilk. A fun twist on the classic pumpkin lattes.
Ginger Date Oatmilk Latte (Iced or hot) – House-made ginger and date syrup served with steamed oatmilk on ice. A spicy and yummy way to make a beautiful fall day even better.
Hot Chocolate – 62% Valrhona dark Chocolate whisked together with steamed milk and finished with more steamed milk and micro-foam. The coziest drink that’s perfect for chilly weather.
London Fog – A traditional earl grey tea latte with steamed milk and vanilla syrup. A sweet, warm, welcoming drink assured to boost your mood on a gloomy day.
Morning Bun – This crowd-favorite pastry is made with laminated croissant dough for buttery and flakey peel-apart layers then finished with cinnamon sugar.
Cinnamon and Pecan Rose – Enriched egg dough similar to brioche rolled to create a rose shape.
Cinnamon and Walnut Coffee Cake- Moist, rich sour cream coffee cake swirled with cinnamon and walnut filling.

This new cafe has a delicious menu with a few fall favorites that are sure to satisfy your taste buds! It’s located next to South Lakes, adjacent to the 7/11 on Soapstone Drive. This makes it ideal for if you want to try a new cafe close to the school so you can grab something quick before or after your school day.
Vanilla Steamer – Warm vanilla milk, if you want a simple, sweet and cozy drink on a rainy day.
Chai Latte/ Flavored Chai Latte – Oolong chai with steamed milk. Chai latte with your choice of pear, coconut, or vanilla flavor. Some classic, and some fresh and fun options, both making a beautiful combination of autumn spice and sweet.
Honey Bread – Brick milk toast with caramel, whipped cream, powdered sugar, almonds. Fluffy and delightful treat that tastes like the sweeter side of autumn.
3. Lake Anne Coffee House
In our very own Lake Anne center, is this special hidden gem that’s perfect for a nice snack and warm, cheerful drink during the beautiful fall season. They have several seasonal drinks on the menu right now that are bursting with fall flavors!
Snicker Doodle Chai – This cozy drink gives the nostalgic taste of home-baked cookies. It’s an amazing addition to fall favorites and is definitely one of the most delicious.
Pumpkin Spice Everything!! Espresso Drinks, Chai & Matcha – Everyone’s fall favorite: Pumpkin spice! Now at Lake Anne you can get the flavor we all love in the drink you love.
Oatmeal Cookie Latte – The oatmeal cookie latte sounds like the most delicious way to interpret fall. The sweet but nutty flavor of the oatmeal cookie makes it an amazing candidate for the perfect fall drink.
Apple Cider & Chaider – The classic fall apple cider, and the classic with a twist known as “Chaider,” the combination of chai tea and cider. The spice of the chai and the sweet tartness of the cider makes it a satisfactory remix to the classic, and it doesn’t disappoint the taste buds.
Additionally, some less fall-y drinks, but equally as delicious drinks with notes of autumn spice include the Golden Spiced Matcha and the Cranberry Lime Lemonade.
4. La Madeleine
Located in the same shopping center as the new Whole Foods, is a bakery and restaurant with a flavorful and varied selection of treats and meals to choose from. From the menu, here’s a few of their seasonal offerings that would be perfect for the mellow weather.
Parisien Hot Chocolate – A Parisien classic, thick, creamy hot chocolate served with a side of Chantilly cream, a mini croissant and a strawberry. A fancier take on the classic hot chocolate, with a tasty croissant as well.

5. Starbucks
Last but not least, America’s favorite, Starbucks. Reston is home to several Starbucks, and luckily one of them is our neighbor! Located in the South Lakes Village Shopping Center, this Starbucks is the place where every South Lakes high school student goes to get their coffee before school, so might as well switch up that coffee for one of these mouthwatering autumn drinks!
