People are kicking off this holiday season with a bang. Only being December 5th, we already have the hot 100 for most popular Christmas jams. While 100 is a lot, let’s slim it down and dive into the top ten.
Christmas is right around the corner and people are decorating their homes with joy and cheer, while listening to Christmas music to kick off the jolly good vibes. Whether it be Mariah Carey, Ariana Grande, Wham!, Kelly Clarkson, or Michael Buble, we all have one thing in common, anticipation for a perfect present-filled morning.
While the top ten Christmas songs of the year may be incredibly popular, it is for good reason. Holding the spot of number one is, of course, the infamous “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” by Mariah Carey. While it was released in 1994, it still holds the most popular spots every year. Mariah knows how to start the snowfall magic of winter, and boy does it work every time. People tune in every year for her to melt the ice and start the Christmas season with her iconic “It’s time,” high note. She keeps relevance and joy eternally.
Moving on to spots number two and three we have “Last Christmas,” by Wham! And “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree,” by Brenda Lee. Both released over 40 years ago, they still hold a special place in our hearts. “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” is a nostalgic tune for everyone no matter how young, and it truly solidifies the scent of pine trees and peppermint. “Last Christmas” is a favorite to many, and will be forever. The song seems as if it were written in Santa’s workshop itself. They may be older, but that is what makes them so cozy for many.
Spots four, five, and six include “Jingle Bell Rock,” by Bobby Helms, “Santa Tell Me,” by Ariana Grande, and “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of Year,” by Andy Williams. These songs consist of upbeat melodies and lyrics. Grande, Helms, and Williams have surely secured their spots by releasing these winter jingles. These songs are all about love, Christmas, and cozy vibes. What more could you ask for when Christmas rolls around?
Finally, the last spots, seven, eight, nine, and ten are held by “The Christmas Song,” by Nat “King” Cole, “Underneath The Tree,” by Kelly Clarkson, “Sleigh Ride,” by The Ronettes, and finally, “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas,” by well-loved jazzy singer, Michael Buble. These songs are also the core of the holiday and people around the world enjoy these popular ditties. These artists put much work into enhancing the cheer among listeners and it was well worth it. These songs trend year round, among many others, and will continue to in the years to come.
Christmas will forever be a favorite holiday of most, and will become even more popular to others with these tunes filled with joy and Christmas whimsy. What Christmas song resonates in your personal Hot 100?
