Volunteer Opportunity: Be Amyazing Reston Youth Triathlon

The eighth annual Be Amyazing Reston Youth Triathlon will be this Sunday, May 13th. This triathlon is a student-led event coordinated by Amy’s Amigos and The Core Foundation. Kids ages 6-15 can participate in the race, and anyone can volunteer.

Amy’s Amigos was founded in 2008 to show support for a classmate, Amy Boyle, who was battling brain cancer. After Amy passed away, Amy’s Amigos was inspired by her spirit, athleticism, and love of life, and they decided to hold the first Reston triathlon just for kids. Today, Amy’s Amigos is a group of high school students that organize the triathlon along with adult volunteers. Since the first triathlon, they have raised over $100,000 for the Childhood Brain Tumor Foundation. The funds aid in the research of pediatric brain cancer. Their goal for 2018 is to raise $115,000.

They are in search of volunteers for the triathlon. Teens can sign up to volunteer for the run, swim, and bike courses, as well as the finish line/after party, and food. If taking part in helping this great cause is of interest, sign up to volunteer here.
