March Madness is the most exciting time in college basketball, as the 64 best college teams compete in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament for the title of best college basketball team in the country. In the tournament, the best teams play against the worst to make sure that that best teams play in the championship.

The winners of the tournament are usually one of the top two teams. However, there have been very low-ranking teams that have gotten really far; some have even won the tournament. For example, George Mason University got to the final four back in 2006.

Fans of March Madness fill out brackets that show all of the teams and games. Fans fill out the bracket by writing down which they think will win, round by round, until there is one champion left. People will even go so far as to place bets on who’s bracket is the most accurate.

Fans of college basketball are excited for many reasons. For instance, SLHS freshman Marc Goldstein is “most excited to watch the students represent their schools with such passion.” Meanwhile, fans like sophomore Maddy McFarlin are “most excited for the fast pace and excitement of college basketball.”

March Madness, overall, is just a time for everyone to root for their favorite college team. It’s a time for good food, drinks, and friends – even if you don’t watch basketball, you can still enjoy March Madness for the parties and friends.
