The USA shocked the world after a big win against two time World Cup champions Uruguay, with the score being 5-1 USA. The USA now go up from the 16th to the 14th in Fifa’s Men’s World Rankings and Uruguay down one to the 16th. 

The game was played in the US on Tuesday with Sebastian Berhalter from Vancouver Whitecaps, Diego Luna from Real Salt Lake, and Tanner Tessmann from Lyon in France all scored one goal. Alex Freeman from Orlando City, was man of the match with a 9.0 rating according to Fotmob, scoring two goals. Uruguay’s Giorgian De Arrascaeta, scored their only goal, and star central midfielder Rodrigo Bentencur received a red card. 

The US was three for five in their last games, with one tie and one loss. Uruguay was also three for five of their last games with two ties. The US had more shots, shots on target, big chances, more corners, more interceptions, and more blocks, but Uruguay had more possession with the ball, more accurate passes, more tackles, more duels won, and more successful dribbles. 

These two teams on paper showed a tough game, but the US scored a lot more than it showed. What went well for the US was their two midfielders, Sebastian Berhalter and Aidan Morris. Before this game, nobody knew them but they showed up, controlling the midfield, and creating most of the chances, and passes. 53 out of 57 of Morris’s passes were accurate, which was 93% accuracy, and Berhalter had the most chances created with three, one goal and one assist, leaving him with a solid 8.6 match rating according to Fotmob. Berhalter, Freeman, and Tessmann all scored their first goal for the US Men’s National Team, which is a great achievement for them. From Uruguay, Arrascaeta’s goal has to be mentioned with a stunning bicycle kick to end the first half. The USA team had a rating of 7.2, and Uruguay had a team rating of 5.6. 

This was USA’s last game of the year and it went great.
