Xabi Alonso, the former coach of Bayer Leverkusen and now Real Madrid, has just left on a mutual agreement with Real Madrid. This leaves the question everyone is wondering is, “what went wrong?.” Alonso came to Real Madrid this summer after Carlo Ancelotti left to coach Brazil’s national team. Alonso led Real Madrid to twenty-four wins, four draws, and six losses, with a 70.59% win rate in the short amount he coached for Real Madrid.
Alonso leaving has left many fans all over the world asking, “what happened?” There were many reasons why he could have left. One theory is that he couldn’t keep the locker room straight, and that many of the players simply just didn’t respect him. They did respect him after the Mbappe incident with him pulling the team away from doing the Guard of Honor for Barcelona’s trophy walk. They also had little respect for him because of the way he did lineups with the players and his formation and tactics. But what Alonso did for Real Madrid as a player and a manager is respectable and won’t be forgotten in Madrid.
With Alonso leaving in the middle of the season, fans are wondering what they are going to do for the future and who is going to lead this team to glory. After a day of Xabi’s firing, Real Madrid announced the new manager, signing in Álvaro Arbeloa, the former Real Madrid Right-Back, who previously coached La Castilla (the real madrid academy) and won a treble in 2022 for the U19s Real Madrid squad. He quickly rose up to the Castilla after three years coaching the U19s and developed players such as Joan Martinez. Arbeloa looks promising for Madrid, but fans think otherwise, as when he first got appointed, no one knew who he was. People around the world right now are saying, “he is going to get Real Madrid relegated to League 2.”
