NFL free agency officially begins on March 11. This is one of the most important times of the offseason. Another veteran receiver is Mike Evans. Evans has been an elite receiver for the past decade, recording 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons throughout his career. He has played for one team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While it is likely that Evans will re-sign with the Buccaneers, many teams may still pursue the veteran receiver.

Edge rusher Trey Hendrickson entered free agency after several Pro Bowl seasons and finished second in the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year award. Hendrickson is one of the top pass rushers in the league. However, after contract disputes and disagreements with the front office in Cincinnati, Hendrickson is looking to move on from the Bengals and join an elite contender.
In the backfield, running back Kenneth Walker III is another notable name. Walker gained national recognition after being named Super Bowl MVP following a 161-yard performance during Super Bowl LX. He broke out in the 2026 season and was a key factor in the Seattle Seahawks’ dominant Super Bowl win. Walker has drawn interest from teams around the league as he is the top running back in free agency.
Salary cap space will play a major role in which teams are most active once free agency officially opens. Several franchises enter free agency with significant cap space, allowing them to pursue high-profile players. The Las Vegas Raiders currently have the most available cap space at around $121 million. They are followed by the Tennessee Titans with about $92 million, the Washington Commanders with around $87 million, and the Los Angeles Chargers with about $75 million.
Teams with this much cap room can often reshape a majority of their roster in a single offseason. On the other hand, some teams currently exceed the salary cap. This situation forces them to take a different approach before making any signings. The Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens both enter free agency roughly $12 million over the cap. The Detroit Lions are about $6 million over, and the Minnesota Vikings sit close to $1 million over the limit.
For teams over the cap, the days leading up to March 11 will likely involve contract restructures, player releases, or other adjustments to gain cap space. These cuts and roster changes are necessary at the start of free agency and can quickly change how much money a team has to spend.
