Sadie Hawkins dance set for Friday, Jan. 7

South Lakes have its first ever Sadie Hawkins dance Friday, Jan. 6.

The Sadie Hawkins dance is usually a less formal dance in which female students invite male students.

Many lady Seahawks came up with creative ways to ask dates to the dance. For instance, junior Caitlyn Maginniss incorporated the dance’s Grease theme into her proposal to junior Gabe Davis by dancing to the song “You’re the One That I Want.”

The dance is being run and set up by the students in leadership.   During lunches, they sold over 175 tickets for the event. All proceeds will go to the leadership class.

Leadership students plan to pay homage to the musical and the decade it is set in during Friday’s festivities.

“The gymnasium will be decorated in a Grease themed decorum,” junior Jared Abelson said.  “There will be a sundae bar and soda diner.”

“There will be a replica of the Grease lighting car from the movie,” junior Nichole Salvatore said. “Throughout the night, students will be dancing to intervals of 50s music.”

Tickets will not be sold at the door, but right before the dance South Lakes alumni Derek Jasper will put on his magic show in the theater.  Tickets will be sold at lunch this Friday for $7 and at the door for $9.
