Broadway Night Afterthoughts

Last Friday and Saturday the South Lakes Chorus department put on their annual production of Broadway Night. As last year’s production was conducted online, it has been two years since an in person show. To raise anticipation the cast and crew decided to create preview videos and even offer a free student preview of the show during a Seahawk Seminar period. “The preview definitely interested me,” said one student, Ryan Skinner, who wasn’t sure if they wanted to attend the show or not beforehand. One student who was in the show, Mia Milosevic, believed the previews were extremely influential in getting people to attend. “Sara Shahzad’s videos that played on the Seahawk Scoop got a lot of people’s attention. When the promotion is just a slide people don’t care that much, but when it’s a video that shows clips from the show and is funny, it gets people more interested,” she said.

As far as the show itself went, Ryan said that “everyone in the cast was very talented, and I enjoyed the experience a lot.” Ryan had never seen a Broadway night or South Lakes musical production before, but is now looking forward to seeing more after this show. Whether or not students were able to see 2022’s Broadway Night, they can see more South Lakes productions this spring when “Crazy For You” starts showing as the school’s spring musical.
