KEEN offers volunteer opportunities helping disabled kids and teens

The KEEN Greater D.C. area organization is offering volunteer opportunities to those at least 15 years of age on Feb. 16 to help kids, teenagers and young adults with physical and developmental disabilities participate in several different athletic activities.

KEEN, an acronym for Kids Enjoy Exercise Now, is a non-profit that has been active in the Greater D.C. area for over 20 years and serves about 60 kids in the Vienna and Springfield regions of Northern Virginia.  Primarily run by young professional, high school and college student volunteers, the group provides one on one recreational opportunities at no cost to the participants or their families.

Programs for KEEN are held every first and third Sunday of each month at the locations Key Canter School 10:15 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. or at Kilmer Center School 3:15 – 4:30 pm.  Volunteer hours count towards service learning hours.  Volunteers need no prior experience and are not required to be athletic.
