Many people plan to participate in this year’s election, including 17-year Fox Mill Estates resident Jerry Barnes. After 50 years of not voting, Barnes has decided to display the importance of this race in front of his very own home. When asked about the inspiration behind his efforts of promoting candidate Mitt Romney, Barnes explained in great detail his fears as well as his hopes for the future of America.
“Our country is almost ready for civil war,” Barnes said. “The defense budget has to be restored. We’re poor at preparing for defense and we’re vulnerable. I’m afraid we’ll be attacked in the next six months.”
The decorations in front of his home include objects of labor such as shovels and helmets, as well as posters, signs, and American flags. His inspiration for this was to illustrate the importance of the American dream.
“Think about the stimulus we have, and ask how long it will take to pay it back.” Barnes said. “We have no jobs, no money, and we’re just borrowing, borrowing, borrowing. Why are we showing our weakness to the world?”
Barnes has a message for the youth of America. “Please put up your flag and show a little patriotism. That’s what I tell everybody.”
Barnes welcomes anybody to visit his political display and talk about the election.
