  1. Visit De Clieu Coffee and Sandwiches in Fairfax, Virginia. This cozy little coffee shop (and bakery) is on the top of the list of must-visit places. This is the only place around here that caters to the fabulous artsy drink trend … The milk foam designs the baristas form on top of the drinks are picturesque (ranging from Snoopy on a Espresso Macchiato to the classic heart on a Honey Cream Latte), and the menus alone are enough to make your mouth water. Not to mention, talking with a friend/parent over hot drinks and sweets gives you a warm feeling that quickly cures the winter blahs. http://www.coffeedeclieu.com/
  2. Dress up like America’s favorite gobbler and run, turkey, run! in the Turkey Trot 10K in Quantico. Virginia (on Saturday the 18th.) Burn those calories and make it to the finish line so you can take your picture with the real bird and have some pumpkin pie. http://www.marinemarathon.com/events/turkey-trot
  3. Go to the Mistletoe Craft Show in Gainesville, Virginia (on Saturday the 18th). This event, run by the Gainesville Middle School for the Arts and Sciences, hosts different local crafters, artists, and artisans. Come watch their craft demos and browse their works of art. This your opportunity to do some great Christmas shopping; you’ll definitely find some neat gifts here! (You can even buy hand-blown glass items made by the school’s students and help support their art program!) https://gvmsmistletoeshow.weebly.com/
  4. If you have a love for trains or anything cool, you must come see the Annual Running of the Trains in Blackstone, Virginia. Bevell’s Hardware Store is famous for having the best Christmas Holiday Train Display ever. Trust me, it’s quite a sight. If you don’t believe me, go see for yourself (it’s huuugge)…It even includes a Ferris Wheel, an ice castle, and American flags. http://www.bevellshardware.com/traindisplay.aspx
  5. Attend our school’s annual production (on Saturday the 18th), Almost, Maine, a performance made possible by our very own (award-winning) Theatre Arts department. This beautiful play, perfect for date night or a girl’s night out, explores love and loss in a unique manner that you will find refreshing. This is a must-see for hopeless romantics and un-romantics alike that appreciate a solid plot with meaning to it. The play explores real life and real love…not the phony romances you often find in movies and books. https://southlakestheatrearts.org/
