JV boys basketball beat Madison 56-41 on Jan.11.
The starting five players, Joseph Kidane, Zach Pearl, Talib Kahn, John Frauenheim, and Derek Phillips outplayed Madison from the start. JV boys led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter.
A new five went into the game at the start of the second quarter. Although Madison turned over the ball only twice, South Lakes held them to only seven points. At the end of the second quarter the score was 24-17. Madison was called for three charges in the first half.
The beginning of the third quarter was pretty rough. Although Madison’s starting five Brian Eckert, Joe Koshuta, Jackson Stafford, Nick Lowe, and John Defazio began the half well, South Lakes took advantage of foul shot opportunities and increased its lead 43-22.
“The team did excellent during the game,” sophomore forward Josh Hairston said. “We executed, played good offense, and we played lock down defense.”
South Lakes scored 13 points in the fourth quarter.
“We played very well,” junior forward Joseph Kidane said. “After we were on a two-game losing streak, we needed a win. It was my coach’s first win against Madison in ten years.”
