1.) Ladies and gentlemen, this is your last chance to see ‘Hamilton’ (written by Lin-Manuel Miranda) at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.! Witness the award-winning Broadway musical that everyone’s been raving about (without having to pay as much for tickets). You definitely don’t have to be a history buff to enjoy this fascinating depiction of founding father Alexander Hamilton’s life. The songs are a stroke of genius – never did I think that someone could flawlessly combine history with rap battles. I heard “The Schuyler Sisters” for the first time my sophomore year during our school’s annual Broadway Night performance. To this day, I can’t their harmonious “Work, work!” out of my head.

2.) With all the crazy weather we’ve been having lately, it’s a good weekend to stay indoors! Look no further than one’s of D.C.’s sophisticated art galleries. The Philips Collection recently opened an extraordinary exhibit titled It Seems Like It’s Going to Be, which features artist Richard Tuttle’s 41-verse poem alongside visual objects. His work explores “the intriguing intersections between old and new traditions, modern and contemporary art practices, and museum spaces and artistic interventions.” Tuttle will be there, performing a piano recital and discussing his brilliant art.

3.) Fans of the popular T.V. series ‘American Idol’ should not miss ‘American Idol: Live!’ at Warner Theater in Washington, D.C.! See this season’s top seven finalists in person. Yes, you read that right! Catie Turner, Gabby Barrett, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Micahel J. Woodard, Cade Foehner, Maddie Poppe, and Jurnee will be there to dazzle you with their vocals. Season 8 American Idol winner Kris Allen will be making a special appearance, as well.

4.) Witness the playoff between D.C. United and the New York Red Bulls at Audi Field in Washington, D.C.! Afterwards, hit Wingo’s for dinner. Home to the “DMV’s hottest wings” (shocker, I know), this is perfect for Saturdays (or any day) with the boys (and girls). If you should choose their wingies, I strongly recommend the BBQ Honey or the Lemon Pepper ones…and please, order the funnel cake for dessert. You’re welcome.
