Sue Jacquot, or “GrammaCrackers” on YouTube, is a grandma from Arizona turned Minecraft content creator to help fund her grandson’s cancer treatment. Jack Self, 17, was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma cancer that affects the tissue, in 2024. 

Eventually, she realized that she could use her experience to promote Self’s GoFundMe by running a YouTube channel. The launch of GrammaCrackers was highly successful, with her videos getting hundreds of thousands of views and successfully raising awareness for the GoFundMe, which has raised over $50,000 as of February.

The channel itself also makes ad-revenue, which will also go towards funding the chemotherapy. “All revenue from these videos goes towards my grandsons cancer treatment, thank you so much for watching,” Jacquot writes in the descriptions of her videos.

Earlier in 2024, one of Jacquot’s other grandchildren, Austin, introduced her to Minecraft as a way to interact and spend time with her. “I was never really curious about it but when you have grandkids who come to you and want to interact with you, you do it,” Jacquot said in an interview with ABC15.

“Austin introduced me to the world of Minecraft over the summer,” Jacquot said in her first upload. “For the first couple of months I was kind of intimidated.” But, now that she’s been playing for some time, she’s had a lot of fun. “I’ve really enjoyed it, and I invite you to come along with me to my adventure,” Jacquot said.

Austin was stunned with how quickly Jacquot adopted the game, describing himself as “mind-blown” with the speed at which she learned the game’s basic mechanics. As of the time of writing, Jacquot has progressed enough inside the game to enter the Nether dimension.

Self, who underwent an estimated 200 chemo treatments over the course of a year, is now in remission. He later commented that he was “feeling great” despite it “not [being] easy at all” to come out the other end cancer free.

Jacquot appreciates the amount of support that the family has received through the channel, monetary and otherwise. “I thank God for each one of you,” Jacquot said in a thank you video. “You’ve been so sweet. I love you all. Thank you so much.”
