Varsity football will play longtime rival Herndon Friday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m.

Rivals since 1980, South Lakes and Herndon will compete for the Baron Cameron Bowl title on South Lakes’ new turf field for the first time.

“We are preparing just like any other game,” senior football captain Alex Woodward said. “But we know emotions will run high when we step on the field.”

A 6 p.m. a tailgate will be held prior to the game in the student parking lot. The game will feature a Romeo & Juliet performance by the marching band at half-time.

Footage of the game will be streamed live from www.DMVstream.com.

“There is a lot of hype leading into this game,” senior football captain Marc Harrison said. “And we expect to win like any other week.”

After defeating Herndon last year 21-7, senior captain Joey Owens hopes to beat Herndon two consecutive years in a row.

“It would be great to start a trend of beating Herndon for next year’s team to continue,” Owens said.
