Boys Lacrosse extends try-outs

While many spring sports have wrapped up try-outs for this season, boy’s lacrosse has decided to extend their try-outs till Saturday, Feb. 8.

This year the team has experienced a large number of interested students, making it difficult for head lacrosse coach Craig Lunde to make decisions on the final team.

“Coach Lunde thought that we had too many kids tryingout,” senior lacrosse captain Ben Bush said. “He wasn’t sure if everyone was all in for the season, so he decided to extend the tryouts and make some cuts later”.

Lunde has already made a few cuts for the team, but more than 40 kids still remain. It is unusual for the team to experience an extended try-out session because the team has not made many cuts in the past.

“This is the first season Lacrosse is making cuts since I’ve been on the team,” Bush said.

The large number of new players brings promise to the team, however. Many incoming freshmen and sophomore have skill that can aid in developing the team further.

“Tons of sophomores and freshmen are trying out,” Bush said. “Many sophomores could actually start on varsity this year.

“The team overall is looking pretty good, we have a nice attack, we have a good defense, but our mid-field is a little shallow.”
