Varsity golf anticipates tomorrow’s district match

Co-ed golf has a record of 0-8, with districts coming up tomorrow.

Players will miss school tomorrow for their 18 hole match, will take approximately four or five hours. During the season’s regular matches the golf teams only play nine holes.

“I expect that individually we will do pretty well,” senior Terry Peterson said. “We’re not bad but we’re not the best. Langley is the best by far, but we’ve definitely improved a lot.”

The girls’ team has only played one match against Marshall, making their current record 1-0.

Junior Gina Valentino, who has been on the team since freshman year, has high hopes for the season.

“I think the only team we might lose to this year is Langley because we’ve lost to them all the years that we’ve played them, but we’re playing Marshall again and I think we’ll beat them,” Valentino said.

Girls’ golf will face Langley tomorrow.

Both Valentino and Peterson believe they have improved their game over the past few years and are now among the top players on their respective teams.

“I’m hoping that more of the girls qualify for regionals because I’ve been the only one so far, so I hope more girls will make it,” Valentino said.
