The brand PepsiCo, which is the parent company behind some of our favorite chips, has introduced a new line of chips with one major change: no artificial flavors or dyes. Following recent government announcements to eliminate certain artificial dyes in food and drug supply, the new NKD chip line was brought up into fruition by PepsiCo within only eight weeks. This new collection is an addition alongside the original chips, not a replacement.
The new collection has only 4 types of chips:
Doritos® Simply NKD™ Nacho Cheese
Doritos® Simply NKD™ Cool Ranch ®
Cheetos® Simply NKD™ Puffs
Cheetos® Simply NKD™ Flamin’ Hot ®

Currently, they’re only available in person at Walmart. It will be sold nationwide by 2026, according to the PepsiCo website
Furthermore, a review from the “Sporked” blog, food journalist Gwynned Stuart says,” If you like Flamin’ Hot Cheetos because you like that citric acid tang, then you’re gonna love the Simply NKD version. We all thought they were even tangier and even a little bit spicier-”

The chips supposedly taste the same as the original, if not better, and making a switch would definitely be healthier! I’d recommend going to your nearest Walmart to see if they live up to the hype, and if they will be a new, delicious, and healthy addition to your pantry.
Hopefully, this new big switch will encourage other brands to do the same, and consumers will start buying the less artificial alternatives.
