Taylor Anderson, FBLA Feature

Former South Lakes senior, Taylor Anderson won first place at the regional Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competition for her Sales Presentation and performance on a Business Law test, winning her a medal

“I was so excited and honored to win with so many competitors,” Anderson said.

At the beginning of April, regional winners and judges came from all over the state for the 2022 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Leadership Conference held at the Town Center in Reston Virginia. There were over 300 competitors and 5 regional winners.

“I was very surprised that of all the people I won, especially when I drove ten minutes and the other competitors came from all over the state, driving four to six hours to get there, I was very very surprised and overwhelmed” Anderson exclaimed.

On the first day of competition, Taylor presented a Sales Presentation, which consisted of writing a seven minute long sales pitch and a slide presentation on selling fitness memberships. She presented to the judges, then they asked her open questions at the end.

“I sold a Pilates membership, I started off by telling the judges to close their eyes and imagine there at the gym” Anderson explained.

After two days of competing, Taylor was presented with the SLC trophy winning first place and qualified to compete in the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Chicago in June.

“I’ve never been to Chicago and I’m very excited to go for an educational reason, especially business related, I’m very excited to sit in the conferences and compete,” Anderson finished by saying.
